Residential Life

At the Hutton Setlement, a strong emphasis is placed on modeling of a quality family unit with the focus on the development of strong values including positive family interactions, relationship-building, personal responsibility and contribution, mutual respect and a quality work ethic.  The Settlement takes a preventative, strengths-based approach to childcare, focusing on development of assets as a method of promoting holistic care and a healthy culture.  Children reside in designated cottages located on the Hutton Settlement's 319 acre campus with between eight to ten same-gender children. Residents are provided a structured environment that is safe, healthy and predictable.  Hearty meals, individual chores, study time and planned activities provide a full day for the residents during the school year.  Summertime brings many exciting activities including swimming, arts and crafts, movie nights plus many planned outdoor events.  Residents are active in the community with YMCA programs, youth groups, and athletics among other pursuits.  As residents reach their high school years, they are encouraged and prepared to seek employment and continue to pursue their passions and interests while preparing for adulthood

The Settlement is non-sectarian, but  the children do attend weekly services as approved and arranged by the individual, family and campus staff.  Additionally, they are able to participate in other church activities.
